Playing nice

It has come to our attention that the comments feature on Bridesbuzzzing is being used (without even relating to topics) to post slander comments about venues. Bridesbuzzing is not the place to post your negative comments, we provide our blogs for brides to interact with each other and share the joy of their wedding day. This is not the place to bad mouth anyone, especially if your comment doesn’t even relate to the topic!

Unfortunately this misuse of our blog and comments has forced us to moderate all comments before approving them.

We do understand that many of you have problems with venues, and we encourage you to take them up with the venue or post on a website like hellopeter.com.

Loving long tables

long-tables001

In South Africa most brides choose to have round table at their wedding reception. The general feeling is that round tables are more sociable and more acceptable. However, the latest trend shows that more and more brides are favoring the sweep of long tables over a sea of rounds seating ten. Read the rest of this entry »

Arum Lily with a Bling

Arum Lily is an elegant and beautiful flower. It is highly effective in creating modern and beautiful arrangements. The drawback is that in South African coloured Arum Lilies are scarce and it is often difficult to guarantee that a bride would be able to source Arum Lilies in any other colour but the traditional white and green.

This often limits its use for the brides with other colour schemes, but I have a perfect solution to this problem:

By using beads and crystals you can colour co-ordinate this gorgeous flower to suit your wedding colour scheme.

How much are you planning to spend on your wedding blooms?

I was reading an international blog by a fellow florist this weekend I was quite surprised that by the suggested amounts spent in the USA on flowers alone. It seems like a majority of budget for floral arrangements and decor was around  $15 000 ( about R112 500)  prior to the recession, but the couples are slashing their budgets to around $5 000 (about R35 500). Now, I do not know the costs of flowers in the USA, nor the labour costs or other levies, however I do know that in South Africa most couples will not spend anything close to R35 000 on their wedding blooms. Bridal Party Dilemma

Once the excitement of your engagement settles a bit, you will probably feel incredible pressure from the anticipating looks, expecting phone calls and other forms of targeted attention from your friends all waiting to be asked to be your bridesmaid.

Most of my clients  were looking for guidance and asked what is an acceptable number of bridesmaid. This is a difficult question to answer and many factors need to be considered. You bridal party may be as small or as big as you wish. Perhaps you have many close friends, and perhaps it was your childhood dream to be each others bridesmaids. However, if you are in your 30s, chances are that you could be happier with one Matron of Honour, or a smaller bridal party.

However, another important factor to consider is your budget. If you wish for your bridesmaids to wear traditional matching dresses and accessories, then it is the bride’s responsibility to pay for the garments to be either purchased, or made. Do not forget that your bridesmaids will require a professional make-up artist and hair stylist on the day of the wedding too.

If you can afford this, then you are extremely lucky and your dilemma ends at being honest with yourself  and having the courage to ask only your truly dear friends or family members to be in your bridal party, and not feel guilty over your decision. Read the rest of this entry »

Wedding Planning Journey the Splendid Way

With only three months to plan a wedding, we worked extremely hard in getting everything sorted. Nevi and Craig made all decisions regarding the wedding together. It was extremely important to both of them to express their unique personalities, as well as their deep connection to each other.
