Wedding Beauty Tips
Seeing that I haven’t been great with my diet and am now regretting it, I thought I’d look up some beauty tips for all of us to try out whether it’s too late or not:

Hydrate – We all should do this all the time anyway… during the last week before the wedding be sure to drink a full sixty four (64) ounces of water per day. That is just over three twenty ounce water bottles. Yes, that is a lot of water, but our bodies need that water to a) Give your skin that soft, healthy glow, and b) Flush your bodies of excess salt and impurities. This allows our bodies to work their best and look their trimmest and healthiest.
Food Choices – Just as the old adage says, ‘garbage in, garbage out.’ What we put into our bodies has a direct impact on how our body looks on our wedding day. During the last weeks prior to the wedding celebration, if we concentrate on eating lean proteins, and fresh fruits and vegetables as the bulk of our diet, we will give our bodies the opportunity to tone up as much as the time frame allows.
Salt – Salt is an essential component to life. But too much of a good thing is not a good thing, and most of us get too much. More to the point, as we approach our wedding day and want to look as slender and healthy as possible, we are well advised to limit our total daily intake of salt by avoiding salty food entirely and only using the salt sparingly. Why? Because the more salt we have in our system, the more we will retain water instead of allowing the water to flush our system of impurities as it is designed to do.
Makeup – Makeup is arguably a bride’s best friend on her wedding day. It helps her look fresh… and it can also help to give her the appearance of having lost weight in time for her wedding regardless of whether she did or not. How? Simply by the use of highlighting techniques in the area of the cheekbone. Put in the most basic terms this beauty tip involves using a lighter shade on the top of the cheekbones and a darker shade underneath to create the illusion of sunken cheeks. To pull this off a bride should:
Getting into shape update: Adventure Bootcamp
I’m into my 2nd week of bootcamp and I’m not going to lie …. IT’S TOUGH! In all honesty though, despite my asthma challenge in this thick cold air, I love it. I’m up at 4:15 every morning – giving me time to wake up properly, have some coffee and a small snack for energy and on to meet at Trinity House rugby field by 5:25. I thought the class would be no more than 5 girls however we’re a group of 20 and that’s a small group in comparison to others. One of the biggest has been 45. They definitely don’t mess around either!
Get Into Shape!
For the past week I’ve been giving some serious thought to how I am going to get into shape for our wedding day. I then thought, why only our wedding day? Why do you need a big event to do something that should be important for your general well being no matter what time of the year! When I was pregnant I put on 22kgs and lost alot of it after birth as mostly was water. I still however want to lose another 10 to 15kgs to get back to where I used to be so I’m taking action. Not only for my wedding day, but to better my future health and well being. After surfing the internet for personal trainers I came across (what I believe) is the greatest concept. I thought this was the best UNKNOWN discovery until I saw it advertised in Shape Magazine within 2 hours of finding it on a website! Check out Adventure Boot Camp For Women www.adventurebootcamp.co.za.
Firming, preserving and tanning
Now that I am having my dress made, That Special Moment’s website really stood out. I noticed their ad on Facebook and thought I would share their info with you if you haven’t already heard of them. They offer a storage option for your wedding dress that preserves the fabric and colour. Read more on www.thatspecialmoment.com.
Diet, diet and diet
I am becoming more and more painfully aware that I no longer have 10 months before our wedding to lose the rest of the weight I’ve been wanting to lose! I have 6 months and counting and it is for this reason that I rushed off to Dischem this morning to buy some more MAXISLIM. I thought I would introduce this to those of you who might not have heard about this wonderful product. Go to www.maxislim.co.za for all the important info but in the meantime I’ll share my own personal experience with using this product.
Mineral makeup
If you have sensitive skin and wearing makeup makes your skin breakout, this may be your answer! Mineral makeup is the new buzzword in the cosmetics industry, though it’s not that new anymore.
Mineral makeup contains no talc, fragrance, dyes or any other nasties that can irritate your skin. In fact it’s so kind to your skin that you can sleep with your makeup on. It’s made from pure natural occuring minerals which means they are pure pigment – nothing added!
You need just a small amount of product and it lasts until you take it off. I worked with a line called Jane Iredale but the products are quite pricey and didn’t really live up to my expectations.
I found that I had to apply several layers of shadow to get the intensity I wanted and when I applied lipstick to clients lips, the colour looked nothing like the colour in the tube! Also the foundation colours didn’t really match South African skin tones that well (it’s an American product). But I think the concept is great.
I see that many commercial brands are bringing out their own lines of mineral makeup like Almay, Revlon and even Avon. I haven’t tried any of them myself but it’s definitely worth a try if you love makeup but your skin doesn’t!
