Arum Lily with a Bling
Arum Lily is an elegant and beautiful flower. It is highly effective in creating modern and beautiful arrangements. The drawback is that in South African coloured Arum Lilies are scarce and it is often difficult to guarantee that a bride would be able to source Arum Lilies in any other colour but the traditional white and green.
This often limits its use for the brides with other colour schemes, but I have a perfect solution to this problem:

By using beads and crystals you can colour co-ordinate this gorgeous flower to suit your wedding colour scheme.
Bridal Party Dilemma
Once the excitement of your engagement settles a bit, you will probably feel incredible pressure from the anticipating looks, expecting phone calls and other forms of targeted attention from your friends all waiting to be asked to be your bridesmaid.
Most of my clients were looking for guidance and asked what is an acceptable number of bridesmaid. This is a difficult question to answer and many factors need to be considered. You bridal party may be as small or as big as you wish. Perhaps you have many close friends, and perhaps it was your childhood dream to be each others bridesmaids. However, if you are in your 30s, chances are that you could be happier with one Matron of Honour, or a smaller bridal party.
However, another important factor to consider is your budget. If you wish for your bridesmaids to wear traditional matching dresses and accessories, then it is the bride’s responsibility to pay for the garments to be either purchased, or made. Do not forget that your bridesmaids will require a professional make-up artist and hair stylist on the day of the wedding too.
If you can afford this, then you are extremely lucky and your dilemma ends at being honest with yourself and having the courage to ask only your truly dear friends or family members to be in your bridal party, and not feel guilty over your decision. Read the rest of this entry »

Top wedding trends for 2009!
This article is brought to you by Emily Tanner at World of Wedding Favours.
The question on every bride & wedding planner’s lips is, ‘What will be the hot wedding colour trends for 2009?’ 2007 and 2008 have seen our brides showcasing the following colour trends; Soft Greens with White, Lilac with Purple tones, Chocolate Brown and anything in Monochrome Black & White. These colours have been so popular and may still continue into 2009 weddings & events, though an explosion in fresher, brighter colours is more likely.
In contrast to the softer more subtle shades of last year, the forthcoming trends for 2009 will be far more exotic, brightly coloured and – believe it or not – almost luminous! Now before you start to panic, you do not need to go for anything too ghastly or too dominating. However, any bride who wishes to strut her stuff in style in 2009 needs to make a bold splash of colour if she wishes to remain in-line with other fashionistas!

Seating Charts
Dear Brides,
Please do not leave planning your seating arrangements to the last moment. Please remember that your reception needs to be layed out according to the way you would like to seat your guests. Whilst last minute changes can happen, it is a lot easier to add/remove a few guests to/from the existing seating chart than creating a whole seating chart the night before your wedding.
I had brides in the past dropping off their seating charts on the day of the wedding after the tables have been set up, all names jumbled up in one pile! This means not only the tables have to be rearranged, but it takes time to sort through100+ names. On the day of the wedding, there is no time to waste. This task can take up to an hour and this really does conflict with time schedules composed by your setting up team.
If you are having hanging seating charts, then you will need to sort out the table names and guest names well in advance. Intricate ribbons need to be tied to the names, the crystals adjusted or the names will have to be sloted into the wire holders. Which ever style you have, it is best to have it ready at least a week before the wedding.
If you are going to set up your own reception, you will not have time to go through 100 names and arrange them in the right order without working yourself into a frenzy.
Now can you image your service providers trying to arrange a pile of names of people they have never met? On that note, if you are giving your guests gender appropriate gifts then please indicate how many males and females are at the table- some names can be ambiguous and confusing (especially if they are foreign).
The best thing to do is to pack your name cards, table numbers in the separate boxes or packets (table 1, table 2, table 3…). Please provide your venue, your planner or the person setting up your reception with a floor plan and all the names a few days ahead of the wedding.
Check out www.weddingwire.com for their free wedding planning tools. Once you register, you can make use of their fabulous and easy to use tools, one of which happens to be seating chart tool!
Remember, in order for the wedding day to be as stress free as possible, sort out all the small details before the wedding day!
