Guests

It seems like all of my latest brides are very concerned with entertaining their guest after the ceremony ( during the photography time).

It is very important to make your guests feel special. People have to make an effort to attend a wedding (think of those need to travel to attend. Naturally, your head would spin from thinking how to accommodate everyone’s special needs. The out-of-towners, guests with small children, elderly… work colleagues…

Here are some suggestions:

Entertaining the kids at your wedding…

I would have loved not to invite kids to my wedding, BUT my sister has two, and I love them very much, so I decided to try and make the day fun for them… Because kids that are bored, will mess up your perfect day…..

Throwing the bouquet

Guest blog by Wendy M (Durban)

I am not a traditionalist and many of the events at my wedding will be unusual and fun. One thing I am in debate about is throwing the bouquet. I, personally, despise this tradition and when called to “crowd around the dance floor” in an attempt to wrestle a fellow guest to the floor in the hunt for the “lucky” bouquet, I always find myself taking a step back and wondering why these girls do it!

I will not have many single women at my wedding (5-10 at maximum) so I dont think this tradition is necessary – does any one have any suggestions to an alternate? I was thinking of asking all the married women to gather around, and, as they will be a little older, perhaps there will not be any jumping or pushing involved?? Help!!

Thinking thank you cards…

Believe it or not, my thank you cards are almost ready to hit the post office, after more than 2 months of being married.  I had them printed this morning and they are looking fab-u-lous!

I designed them with a collage-style photo of Mr QB and I, the chapel and one of the whole bridal party and added our monogram to the design.  I want to hand write (oh my gawsh) every card, as I want them to be personal and not just a random thing that I’ve done with no thought in mind.

So now, all that’s left is to figure out what to say and how?

Debate: Inviting the boss to your big day

After all he/she pays your salary, but do you have to invite the boss to your wedding? Would they get offended it you did’nt?

Having kids at your wedding

FI and I have decided that we don’t want to have kids at our wedding.  I just feel that a wedding is not a place for small children as they either run around on a sugar rush or get bored and ruin the evening for everyone.

Im not sure how to ask our guests not to bring kids to the wedding because a lot of them have kids, and due to me not really wanting to have a “children’s party” and the fact that we’ll have to cater for extra guests, Im not sure how to word it.   I know, even though most invites say “NO CHILDREN”, somehow people who have kids just dont see that.

Ive heard about hiring baby sitters, but it’s just an added expense that we dont need, and to be blatantly honest, just can’t afford at this stage.

What should I do?

Ideas for thank you cards

I can’t belive that Mr Tulip and I have already been married for over a month.  Married life is good and the honeymoon was fantabulous!!! But, I think its about time that I get my ass (which has grown since our honeymoon) into gear and start working on our thank you cards.

At this stage Im not sure what to do, so here are a few options – help me out will ya? Read the rest of this entry »

Dress code de-code

The Cash bar Question

I have mixed feelings about having a cash bar at a wedding.  On the one hand I want to let my guests party the night away and have an absolute jol, and on the other hand, the budget keeps putting everything back into perspective.
