It’s our birthday and we’ve got a pretty new look
February is our Birthday month, and this year we celebrate two years!. Bridesbuzzing started when I wanted to find a way to document my wedding. A few weeks into my blogs I was having so much fun that I invited more buzzing brides to join in the fun, and together we created this lovely, buzzing community.

I can’t believe that its been nearly two years since I got married, and I still remember the fun and excitement of planning my big day. It’s great to look back on the blog and re-live those experiences, and it is so great to be able to share them with so many new brides, who are also enjoying this special time in their lives.
My day on the pages of My Day magazine
Every girl dreams of having her special day added to the pages of a bridal magazine. So, I’m sure you can imagine my excitement and enuthusiasm when I picked up a copy of My Day magazine with our wedding featured in their real weddings.

Fold up ballet flats – perfect for the reception
Ladies, check out these fabulous FOLD UP ballet flats (FUPS), perfect for you to wear after a few dances at your wedding reception.

I remember after our first dance, I ran up to our honeymoon suite and thankfully I had a pair of flats to wear, otherwise I would have gone barefoot (something many brides have done) but in my case, ended up with broken glass on my feet. FUPS are fabulous if you don’t have somewhere to keep a spare pair of shoes and they really fold up to a small size.
FUPS come in Black (not so weddingy I know, but they would make great bridesmaids gifts!) and champagne, but the creators have asked us to test the water on a white pair. SO, please leave your comments below and there may just be a white pair in the pipeline soon.
I reviewed a pair for Bridesbuzzing’s sister site, StyleScoop, so go have a look and be sure to enter the competition as we are giving away three pairs.
Winners of our photo competition
Last year in August, Bridesbuzzing.com, together with Photographer Yvette De Beer from Innovate Photo ran a competition where we offered Brides to be the chance to win their wedding photos for free. Although none of the submissions were between August and October, Yvette liked Gezell Coetzee’s submission so much, she decided to make her a lucky winner and offer her her wedding pics for free!
Gezell and her husband Taswell were married on the 14th March 2009 at Vredenheim Wine Estate Stellenbosch. Below are here are some of Innovate Photos beautiful wedding pics of the couple on their special day.

Honey, I shrunk the dress
It’s March, almost a year ago since I became Mrs Tulip and believe it or not, my wedding dress has just been hanging in the attic. It’s sad I know, but it was too big to put it anywhere else. I had already taken it to the cleaners to get it dry cleaned before I put it away. The other day, my heart sank when I saw it lying on the floor – like an old, dirty thing you care nothing for, so I decided this weekend that it was time to put “her” to sleep. I know my daughter will more than likely not want it on her wedding day, but I’m not saving it for my unborn children – it’s mine and I want to keep her looking gorgeous.
My mom had sent me some vacuum seal bags from my aunt in the US, so as sceptical as I was, I decided to try them out. Here is the story of how I “shrunk” my dress – literally…

So this is my wedding dress, together with my tule petticoat and my vale laying on the bed

I folded my dress nicely before putting it in the plastic vacuum bag. I wanted to be able to see the design from the outside

That’s how the thick just the dress was when folded

Everything shoved into the vacuum bag – nicely of course!
Fergie and Josh’s wedding
I know this may seem as bit of “old news” right now seeing as the couple have already been married for over a month and have probably already returned from their honeymoon, but I thought Id share in any case. The couple got married on the 10th January 2009 in Malibu, California. Fergie and Josh Duhamel’s Rock and Roll wedding was estimated at $1 million. Talk about a rock and roll bash…

Oscar Inspiration
The 81st Annual Oscar awards happened last weekend, and Hollywood’s de la creme rocked the red carpet in amazing designer gowns. If you want to steal their style for your wedding, check out these fairytale numbers, that can be adapted for your wedding dress.

The beautiful Evan Rachel Wood in a breathtaking Elie Saab gown

Marissa Tomei in Versace and Van Cleef and Arpels Jewles. I love the way this gown “hugs” her butt – Check the second pic.

Can Sarah Jessica Parker look any more gorgeous? She is wearing Dior – of course!
Getting ready – the best part
Ok, so I know I should have posted these waaaayyyyy sooner, I’m actually still trying to figure out why I never did post them? – hmmm. Better late than never I guess, so here are some getting ready shots. This really was such a fun part of the wedding, and I’m glad that our venue, chapel and accommodation was all at the same place. It made it all so much less stressful

I loved the way Wanda did my make up. It really lasted the whole wedding and looked very natural. Plus it looked good in the photos too

All the pampering (all the champagne), it really was such an amazing start to such an amazing day. I would really recommend getting ready at your venue. There is no stress and you feel very relaxed. Just make sure you get your hair and makeup people to come out to the venue for you. Wanda did my hair and makeup which was a huge bonus.
Pretty packaging
If you’re giving your guests edible favours at your wedding, always consider the packaging. Personalise it to add that special touch. Your guests will really appreciate it, and it will look good in your photos.
I was browsing thorough Martha Stewart’s wedding site – (she really is the wedding master of creativity) and I got these fabulous ideas from her pages.
Here are a few ideas, with the link to Martha’s pages, where you can log on and download the templates and DIY….

These pretty boxes are a great way to store your sweety favours
