Colour me purple

Choosing the colour for the wedding proved to be more difficult than I had originally anticipated. I have always loved the colour of the ocean on a stormy day have been heard to sigh “I would love a dress that colour.”
Of course, I had no real hope of finding the purpley-blue-gunmetal colour I have sighed over and had therefore resigned myself to a rather plainer shade of violet.

Blow me down, however, when I walked into Bridal Centre (yes, the very same bridal emporium which I initially refused to enter and ended up finding my dream wedding dress) to find material in the perfect shade, at R30 a metre! I am quite beside myself with joy. And, no, the irony of my inital reluctance to shop at Bridal Centre only to find two of my most important elements there has not escaped me. And how’s this for shivery? The same sales lady – there are about 20 - sold me the dress and the material! Cleary Mizz Diva + Bridal Centre = meant to be…

I have now got all excited about using this sophisticated palette and turned to Polyvore to try and express my vision. Here it is:Purple and Lace Wedding

Not everything is going as well as it may appear, however, as I had my heart set on using Hydrangeas and Agapanthus as the flowers, but alas they first appear in early November whilst I am getting married in September. I have now decided to go with Irises, Lisianthus and those pretty purple roses.

The next things on the list are to find the correct colour paper for the invitations and a the design for the bridesmaid’s dresses. As usual, I have several ideas for both of these elements and the tricky part is going to be making a decisions.

Since I am having six bridesmaids, I imagine it will be easy to put the dress design to the vote.

I must say, though, looking through magazines, cutting out pictures, hearing Mr Diva’s opinions and sharing them on here has been loads of fun. Even though I wish the wedding were today, I am also glad that I still have 161 days to enjoy the process of planning.
