Hi ladies

It is always lovely to scrap book your wedding album and enjoy every second that goes into preparing the page like you did on the big day. Here are examples of pages I have done….

Our cake

July 15, 2008 | Leave a Comment

We were undecided about the cake. First I wanted to do mini pavlovas but were told that the meringue would go soft. Then we wanted to do mini Chateax Gateux which needed to be defrosted first, so we had that as desert. Then we wanted to do mini petit fours but a lot of Brides choose that option. So in the end we decided on mini chocolate eclairs filled with milk tart mixture. They were divine - the only problem is we bought the bridal knife set and didn’t think about the cutting of the cake even. We went the step further though by having the song picked out for this event. :) Wouldn’t it be nice - Beach Boys.

We had bottles of champagne on each table for the guests at our wedding. Thinking about extra decorations we had handmade champagne bottle charms for each bottle neck made with ribbon, beads and lastly our initials. We also had different lengths of ribbon strips with a reading attached.

Each guest had an option of writing a note for us inside of the tag. They then had to place it on the tree. The message on the tag read as follows: Two lives joined together, Two hearts that beat as one, How precious is the moment, When a marriage is begun, Your sincere wish to us is ….

The night before the big day all bridesmaids and my Mother stayed with me at our honeymoon venue. We just relaxed, ordered pizza and finished the final details. I had purchased small corrugated cardboard boxes with a heart shape on the top closing the box and glued a ribbon and bead on the top of that. In each box we made truffles covered in icing sugar and placed them inside each box. I cannot believe the comments I got from these and it is such a simple recipe that I found.

Here it is:

 2 x bars milo chocolate1 x can caramel treat

1 packet marie biscuits

Mix all together after you have melted chocolate and roll into balls and coast with cocoa or icing sugar.

Simple and easy and lastly delicious!!!

OK, so yesterday morning I got a phone call from Branded Water. My water is ready, and will be delivered.. YAAAYYYAAAAA

…and pick a shoe. Actually, choosing my wedding shoes was one of the easiest decisions I had to make. None of this agonising over two-inch or three inch heels, strappy or solid, peep-toe or closed, kitten, wedge, stiletto, satin, leather, fake leather, shiny PVC, you name it, I didn’t worry about it.

This was not me.

I absolutely love weddings and I’m thrilled to be able to be a part of so many of them(I’m a makeup artist). I’m also helping my sister plan her wedding and seeing all the wedding goodies out there makes me wanna get married again! Or at least have another reception but my husband won’t hear of it! The best part is the dress and now I’ve found a way to surround myself with lots and lots of dresses! As part of my business I now sell wedding gowns. I also know how expensive they can be so I decided to sell previously owned gowns. These are awesome ‘cos you can buy a gorgeous designer gown for half the price! And of course, I can do your makeup as well. If you are looking for an affordable gown or if you have a dress you would like to sell, please contact me on info@ilovemakeup.co.za. I am Jhb based. Pictures will be on my website soon, http://www.ilovemakeup.co.za

Jammin’ favours

I was browsing through an old food magazine from 2006 and came across a fabulous idea, which I thought would tie in perfectly with Mizz Cala Lilly’s Picnic Themed wedding.

Personalised Jam Jars make really pretty favours for your guests and can be personalised for your wedding.  The ones in the pic above are really cute, and you can get your glass containers from Consol Glass and make em’ yourself.

Let them eat cake!

July 10, 2008 | 6 Comments

With only a colour scheme decided on, (yup - no venue, no photographer, no dress…) my thoughts turn to that most wonderful of things, the cake! I’m not a fruitcake kinda gal, so when I found this little slice of chocoholic’s heaven how could I not share?
