For my Matric farewell everyone told me to wear my hair down. Afterwards I hated the photo. I really hated it, because everyone with their hair up looked sooo nice to me.

So, ever since then, (lol), being more than 10years ago, I changed my look… I am blonde now… But I really dont want to have my hair down, and people are telling me to have it down ?

See I don’t want to have hair hanging in my face, or irritating me the whole time. Especially because it will be a picnic ?
This is what I have in mind…

This is the style everyone is telling me to get…

I agree with you, have your hair done in an up-style. You can have your hair down any day at a braai or any other function. But hair looks so much prettier when detail is given in an upstyle. I’ll definitely go for tied up hair with little pieces hanging down.
Another reason to do an upstyle is that you very often get that hair that hangs down just looks so ordinary and if you don’t really have that much body and volume in your hair you might just get that is sags out during your day, and that is something you dont want to see on a photo. And something that looks terrible to me is straight hair with a bottle of hairspray sprayed out on it. It looks like one has been licked by a cow.
I feel the same way, the down style is nice, but I have had it once before, and I sooo wanted to have it upstyle.. AND the only other BIG day in our lives really to dress up is a wedding…
AND my pins with the swarovski is going to look soooo stunning!
OH my and mine wil SAG! They look nice for a while, then it just falls flat!
So there you go. You’ve already got the beautiful pins and with gorgeous blonde hair with a bit of streaks it will look perfecto!
I’m a hairdresser…wear it up! There is nothing worse then a bride with her hair down in my opinion. When people hug you they squash it, you fiddle with it the whole day/night. You get sweaty and the wind blows, it drizzles etc etc. All of which makes hair that’s down look scraggly, stringy, and pretty much like you haven’t put a brush through it in a decade! Up(at least half up) ALWAYS wins!
Claire,
Hair that is hanging down might also look stunning, if parts of it is tied up… BUT I dont think for me that would work.. AND I would love an upstyle….
Especially since I have allot of Bobbypins, make by my Jewelry designer, with swarovski, and It would look amazing!
NOW just to convince my hairdresser to do my hair at the venue, so far she has not responded, and I am thinking of getting someone else….
Hey Mizz CL
First things first… who cares what anyone else says? Its your wedding so you should do what you want. If you start listening to everyone else, you will never get the wedding you want. Granted, advice is good, but if you want to do something and somebody says otherwise, then you do what you want :)
I had a similar exp. For my matric farewell all the girls were doing updos and I wanted to be glamourous and have one too… It looked horrible, and before we left for the hall, I took it out. I hated it. For my wedding I was also advised to have my hair up, but Im not one for updo’s so I had my hair dresser curl it for me and add a few embelishments and flowers - for me it looked like me and I loved it.
I think the second last pic you have is gorgeous!!! I think, Mrz Daffodil had her hair like that - http://www.bridesbuzzing.com/2008/02/23/hair-and-make-up/
I saw in a wedding mag somewhere exactly how I wanted my hair, but to my dispare, I can’t find it, and trying to find it on the web is difficult. AS the one I love has lose strands all round….
AND you are right, it is my day, and I get to pick!
HI FIVE TO YOU!
I think the way YOU feel it should be, is the way it should be! Me, I don’t look great with an updo. I have sticky-out ears and very thin hair. When it’s all up and back, I look a bit like a conehead. :-) No, I’m just kidding, it’s not that bad. But for my honours ball I wanted half up, half down, and the hairdresser convinced me to do all up to make it “special”. I hated it! So for my wedding I’m doing it my way - loose curls for body, half up, half down.
Same goes for me, when my hair is hanging lose, it tends to go flas fairly fast. Since I do have curly hair, one would think it would stay nice and curly ? LOL, give it a few hours and it goes flat……
Soooo I am going to have it like my upstyle pic, with just a few lose strands everywhere…
THANK YOU!
