Throwing the bouquet

I am not a traditionalist and many of the events at my wedding will be unusual and fun. One thing I am in debate about is throwing the bouquet. I, personally, despise this tradition and when called to “crowd around the dance floor” in an attempt to wrestle a fellow guest to the floor in the hunt for the “lucky” bouquet, I always find myself taking a step back and wondering why these girls do it!

I will not have many single women at my wedding (5-10 at maximum) so I dont think this tradition is necessary - does any one have any suggestions to an alternate? I was thinking of asking all the married women to gather around, and, as they will be a little older, perhaps there will not be any jumping or pushing involved?? Help!!

    Hey there Wendy

Instead of throwing the bouquet to all the single girls, why not give the bouquet to the couple who has been married the longest? I went to a wedding where they did that and it was really beautiful - the couple had been married for about 60 odd years, so it really made people understand the value of marriage.

Of course you dont want them jumping around, especially if your gran might get the bouquet, but you can get the MC or your new hubby to call up all the people who have been married for 10 years, then start illiminating them until you reach the oldest married couple?

Or what about those “shower bouquets” that break up as they’re thrown, and each stem has a little wish or fortune on it - that way everyone gets one!

    Hi
I like that idea Mrz Queen. I absolutely hate the standing around looking desparate for a boquet and don’t want to put my remaining single friends through it again. Will do this at my wedding in Jan.
