    Hi Mrz VV

That is such a gorgeous invitiation, what are the cutest wedding invite verses you have? Something different but cute?

  2. Mizz Honeysuckle on May 31, 2008 8:49 pm

And asking for money WITHOUT using a little “cute” poem is a bugbear for me. No offence to those who like them, but I really don’t! I find them very cutesy and forced. Any ideas?

  3. Mrz Queen bee on May 31, 2008 9:04 pm

Hmmm, what about saying “gifts in envelopes are most welcome”? Not really a poem, and it kinda gets the point accross…

  4. Mizz Honeysuckle on May 31, 2008 9:12 pm

I had a friend who did that. I thought it worked fine, but Mr Honeysuckle thought it was tacky! Oh well! I don’t see HIM on wedding sites all day and night trying to figure this stuff out!

  5. Mrz Queen bee on June 1, 2008 7:29 am

and sending an envelope with the invite, kinda like when you get your accounts (haha) - I wonder if thats been done before and if its worked??

Hey, I know asking for money can be rude but at the end of the day this is normaly what one needs. So here are a few ideas - hope they help I have more if needed.
    xx
1.We have two toasters and an iron
We’ve cups and plates and glasses fine,
Towels and sheets we have a host,
But the thing that we need most,
Is bread, And not the kind you toast!
    2. More than just kisses so far we’ve shared,
Our home has been made with Love and Care,
Most things we need we’ve already got,
And in our home we can’t fit a lot!
A wishing well we thought would be great,
(But only if you wish to participate),
A gift of money is placed in the well,
Then make a wish …. but shhh don’t tell!
Once we’ve replaced the old with the new,
We can look back and say it was thanks to you!
And in return for your kindness, we’re sure
That one day soon you will get what you wished for.
    3. “If you were thinking of giving a gift, to help us on our way. A gift of cash towards our house, would really make our day. However, if you prefer to purchase a gift, feel free to surprise us in your own way.”
    4. To save you looking, shopping or buying. Here is an idea, we hope you like trying.
Come to our wedding, to wish us both well. And bring this small sack, to throw in our wishing well.
Fill it with paper all colours will do, gold is our favourite but silver will do.
Now that we have saved you, all of that fuss.
We hope you will come, and celebrate with us.

Mrz Queen bee - what is your theme as there are loads of cute verses but alot of theme are theme related? like beach, mountains, music, golf, fairytale etc!! give me more details to the feel of the wedding x

  8. Mizz Honeysuckle on June 1, 2008 2:01 pm

We’re doing a simple classic wedding with a bit of an old hollywood classic feel. Colours are black, white and crimson. So no “theme”, really, except we are doing a few movie-related things, like Oscar favours and classic star table names.

  9. Mrz Vintage Viola on June 1, 2008 3:52 pm

Lovely theme - mine was quite similar - it was black and white mischief Flapper (1920) wedding. I had famous jazz singers for table names and a quote from each - see below

A man doesn’t know what hapiness is until he’s married. By then it’s too late. Frank Sinatra

“People think I was born in top hat and tail” — Fred Astaire

Where the blue of the night
Meets the gold of the day,
Someone waits for me –Bing Crosby

The moment I wake up, Before I put on my make up, I say a little prayer for you. –Aretha Franklin

The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return. Nat King Cole, “Nature Boy”

Marriage is a series of desperate arguments people feel passionately about. — Katharine Hepburn

“A kiss that is never tasted, is forever wasted.” – Billie Holiday

It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing. Duke Ellington

“By and large, jazz has always been like the kind of a man you wouldn’t want your daughter to associate with.” Duke Ellington

“When two people love each other, they don’t look at each other; they look in the same direction.” GINGER ROGERS

Birds do it, bees do it, even educated fleas do it. Let’s do it, let’s fall in love. - Cole Porter

I get no kick from champagne, Mere alcohol doesn’t thrill me at all, So tell me why should it be true, That I get a kick out of you? - Cole Porter

“Just don’t give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don’t think you can go wrong.” ELLA FITZGERALD

Always get married early in the morning. That way, if it doesn’t work out, you haven’t wasted a whole day. Mickey Rooney

    Clark Gable-Frankly my dear I don’t give a damn.

    Hey Mizz Honeysuckle.
This was the wording for mine - maybe u can mix it up a little to incorporate yours!

    Ladies & Gentleman,
    take your places.
Put on the Ritz, dress to the nines
& dedicate yourself to the swing era
    Dazzle to the big bands,
    in zoot suits & Swishy
    skirt elegance
    Black & white mischief,
Jitterbug perfume & two-tone cap shoes.
Feathers & pearls, a jazzy clip and a curl
    The night is yours.
    Black or White Tie
RSVP by 15 August 2006 - regret no children
    Linda

That’s totally cute! Although it doesn’t say about bringing money for gifts, which is what we were talking about! Haha…but I like it! I love the idea of the marriage quotes, though I wouldn’t go as far as to call Katharine Hepburn a jazz singer. However, WE have a table for her too! She’s a favourite of mine.

I would LOVE to see some photos of your wedding and wedding decor! Could you email me some if you can’t post them here? kathco@metroweb.co.za

Oh Wow Mz VV. I also want to see!!! Sounds like you had quite an extravagant wedding. Hell I wanted to plan a freaking halloween party (off the subject of weddings) and I had to fight with ppl to dress up, so Im really glad that Im not the only one who likes themed partys :)

  13. Mizz Honeysuckle on June 1, 2008 6:13 pm

Yeah, to be honest I don’t think I’m going to be able to get people to dress up like that! I know we’ve discussed this before, but I just don’t see it happening!

  14. Mrz Vintage Viola on June 1, 2008 6:15 pm

I know what u mean, Ppl in durban hate dressing up - whatz up with that! The nice thing is I gave feather boas as my favour so even if they didnt dress up they all looked the part :)

  15. Mizz Honeysuckle on June 1, 2008 6:20 pm

That must have been a costly favour! But stylish!

I don’t think it’s just Durban; people just hate dressing up in general! I loopve it, as long as it doesn’t cost me a whole lot of money I don’t have!

  16. Mrz Vintage Viola on June 1, 2008 6:22 pm

i dont know how to add a wedding yet :) im new :) but I am sending it in for the “real weddigs” Is this what I should do? or is there another place to load them - should I just create a new blog on my themed wedding?

  17. Mrz Queen bee on June 1, 2008 7:38 pm

  18. Mizz Honeysuckle on June 1, 2008 7:55 pm

    Hi Mrz Vintage Viola
I would like to do my own invites. Just because we need to save money wherever we can.
where could i find ideas of invites?

Our wedding colours are white, gold and burgundy.
We wanted to add in a celtic know somewhere on the invite.

  20. Mrz Vintage Viola on June 5, 2008 4:06 pm

    Hi Robs,

There are so many websites that can give u ideas. if u go to google and go to images and type in celtic invitations - hundreds come up. the most pop seems to be a wax seal with a celtic picture on it. Ask your local paper shop (House of Fine papers - if u in Durban) if they have a wax seal in a celtic logo.

there are also so many fonts that have a celtic look - if u go to http://www.dafont.com u can get free fonts look under the letter c for the following fonts and download them:
    Celtic eels
    celtic garamond
    celtic hand
    celtic MD

Let me know what kind of invite u r wanting and I will c what I can do for you - i.e. sqaure or DL (long)

    Hope this helpsceltic-pic1.gif

  24. Vivienne on July 29, 2008 10:07 am

    Hi Mrz V V

I’ve just come across your invitation and it’s absolutely stunning!!! I’m doing the whole DIY invitations/stationery and I’m desperately trying to find the diamante buckle that’s on your invite? I’ve had this idea in my head but I can’t seem to find it at any bead shop and when I saw your post with your invite and I started getting excited cause I knew it must be out there somewhere. Could you please advise where I could possibly get these “diamante buckles” from? Thank you thank you!!!!

  25. Mrz Vintage Viola on July 29, 2008 1:09 pm
