To tiara or not to tiara?

Lets debate…. IMO Tiara’s are for queens and princess’ and I did’nt want one on my wedding day.  Not because I don’t like them, trust me, Im a bling girl. But I just feel that they are too ‘trendy’ right now and in 10 or 20 years when you look back at your wedding photos, how will they look?

What put me off was Posh Spice (AKA Victoria Beckham’s) wedding pics.  Are any of you ladies wearing the crown?

EEK, that crown spoils the look

Well, Posh’s tiara is heinous! But then so is her hair, in my opinion. :-) I wonder if she looks back even now and goes “What the hell was I thinking??” I would.

When I was eight or nine one of my best friends placed in a school beauty pageant, and she got a tiara. From then on all I could think about was getting my own tiara so we could play “Princess, Princess”! My mother gave me one for Christmas that year…I still have it! And I loved it, but I know what you mean about tiaras being for princess - or little girls playing them! However, I can’t help myself - they just look sooo pretty when they’re not over the top! So I’ve gone halfway and got one that lies flat on my head, more like an alice band.

I must say I like the alice band ones as they look like more of a jewel than a tiara :) And if you keep your vale on then tiaras also look good, I just dont like em plonked on the head like a queen hehe

Sorry that pic came so small, but that’s sort of what my veil will look like too, except longer in the front and without all the embroidery.

Posh’s tiara is awful! It looks like a bended crown.. hehehe
I also wanted a tiara and had the same worries as you.. What if you look back and think “eeeekkkkk” So Anel, my jewelry designer (http://www.kemptalk.com/annabelles.htm)
Had a suggestion where she makes me bobby pins with swarovski crystals and glitter type gut.. SO I will have about 15 bobby pins, that will be arrange in my hair infront, wich will give you the same look as a tiara but wont be a tiara……

I bought some hair pins from this cute little shop here, called Miss Snazzy Girl. The lady who did my hair, put them in all different places and I loved it!!!

I also got these gorgeous ones from Accessorize, that have a spiral pin, that you twist into your hair. Those were even better becuase the ends of the pin didnt stick out :)

Oh that is what someone else recommended to me! They also said to get them at Accessorize, but I can’t visualize what the pins look like! Don’t suppose you have a pic?

I saw the scariest tiara on facebook somewhere, but shame, it would be mean to link to her pic. I’m sure *she* loved it!

LOL @ Robs :) You’re right it is the only time you can wear it! Keep it on all night, my only regret was taking my vale off after the service :(

I wanted a tiara, but didn’t know what I actually was looking for. We went to Durbs and I saw the most beautiful Tiara, but wanted to look further in case I see something nicer. Well, when I went back, I couldn’t remember which one I liked….just as well, cause me dress only arrived after that trip. So last Friday, off we went again to Durbs, and I found the most beautiful necklace, earrings and tiara! Amazingly, my tiara and jewelry have the same flower design. I wanted something with a vintage feel. Once back at work, where I have pics of me in my wedding dress (don’t trust the home pc :-)) I found to my suprise that the flowers on my tiara, and necklase and earrings, is an exact replica of the embroidery on my dres!!!!!!!!!! I am sooooo exited. Everything just fell into place.
