Venue: Edelweiss Estate, Kameeldrift, Pretoria
Theme: Elegant, Victorian, Faritytale wedding. Everything was lavender and white with dashes of pink here and there.

Name of bride: Chantelle Lloyd
Name of groom: Christiaan Visagie

The engagement
On 18 July 2007 he popped the question. We were just having a peaceful time at home.

We were talking about marriage (what a coincidence), he was lighting candles, and suddenly he dropped on one knee, plucked something out from under one of the pillows and said: “Chantelle Lloyd sal jy met my trou?”

I was flabber gasted. I really didn’t expect it. He didn’t take me on a romantic getaway or for dinner, because I always find out and spoil the surprise. With being speechless and all, I finally came to say the word ‘yes’ over and over again.

The wedding
I think the highlight was when I entered the chapel. Seeing my knight standing, waiting for his Victorian Queen to unite in Love, was amazing. And my husband said that when he saw me for the first time, he was blown away.

Stress about the rain was one thing, I was waiting to be called to the chapel for my entrance and I started hearing thunder. I just prayed that it didn’t rain on my way, as I had to walk to the chapel.

The heavens opened just as I entered the chapel and it stopped and drizzled afterwards. How blessed are we? They say that it’s good luck for the marriage when it rains on your wedding day. And blessings we got.
