Here’s an interesting concept, how about an iPod wedding? No joke, its been done before and some say it’s just as effective as having a DJ spin some tunes at your wedding - talk about a technological advancement…..

To have an iPod wedding, you’ll need:
- A good selection of songs. Check out Limewire.com to download some tracks
- A laptop with iTunes, so that you can set your playlists
- A power source (duh)
- A PA system with an amplifier
- A friend to man your iPod during the reception.
I don’t think a DJ can be replaced by an Ipod, but depending on the size of your wedding, and of course, the big, bad budget an iPod wedding could work for you.
I also think that if you choose the iPod route, you test, test and test your systems again and again before the big day and make sure who ever is manning the iPod knows what they are doing. Also, dont assign the task to your technologically dense cousin or your drunken uncle.
I’d like to hear what you guys ‘n gals think of this and if you’ve had any experainces with it.

I’ve heard that the downside is that the guests all start messing around with the playlist, stopping songs in the middle and playing what THEY want. I know this always happens to me at parties where I’ve got the playlist on computer! But perhaps if you put someone in charge of it that wouldn’t be a problem It’s a great idea otherwise!
Remember to check with your venue about what can get plugged in where, and check how your speakers sound in the hall before the day.

We are 80% sure we are going to go the ipod route with our wedding. I’ve heard SO many horror stories about them thugh! Has anyone had an ipod wedding that was succesful?
We are thinking of having the Ipod wedding as well… See we will be approx 40 guests, and I have a 160gb Ipod, so I can load the songs, and just press play ?
Hmmmm
We’re also having a small wedding, 50 to 60 people, so it seems the logical thing to do?! We were thinking of using a laptop though,I think it’s less likely that people would mess around with that then an Ipod? Also, my Ipod doesn’t shuffle songs, so it immediately plays all songs by a particular artist in a row! Think that could get kind of annoying!
