Engagement stories

I still love hearing about people’s engagement stories and despite having already walked down the isle, the idea of weddings and all that surrounds them is still very appealing.

My fiance proposed on New Years eve of 2006. We were all gathered at a party with all our friends and when the DJ annouced it was the 1st January 2007 he got down on one knee in the middle of the dance floor and asked me to marry him. It was spectacular! The club had arranged to have fireworks for the celebration so it was really magical.

I had been dating Mr Tulip for 7 years and was starting to think that he was never going to propose…. He took me out to dinner to my favourite restaurant to celebrate our 7-year dating anniversary. So, I though nothing more of it. I actually cant belive I was so clueless…… hehe

So, we have dinner, and right after dessert, he gets up, with me still oblivious to whats going on around me… gets down on his knee and asks me to marry him, presenting me with the most amazing engagement ring.

I was literally shocked - I had this permanent smile on my face the whole evening and the week after and it was all really romantic and I will never forget it!

It was easter 3 years ago & we where busy packing our bags to go house sit when my husband kept asking me if i wanted my easter egg (a hollow gold one) which i kept saying not now, not now. He kept bugging me asking me if i wnted it so i eventually said “fine give me the egg (by this time i was very irritated with him as kept asking if i wanted the egg)

He then went & got the egg when he came back he was shacking the egg & said “i’m sorry babe but the egg broke” & then he handed it to me which i then put it down. . .

He then told me that i had to have the pieces that where broken & i said that i did not feel like it & that he just wanted me to open it so he could eat it to which he replied YES.

So i opened the gold foil wrapper & he took the egg & poured the pieces into my hand, when i looked down at my hand there was my great grans engagement ring.

He then took it out my hand, got down on one knee & asked me to Marry Him

To which i said YES of course

Me and Mr. Calla Lilly have been dating for 8 years last year in March. We moved in together in our new town house, having a new puppy.

I was busy painting our kitchen cupboards, and he was playing PS2 in the livingroom…

He came to me with the puppy in his hands, went down on his knees, I thought there was something wrong with the puppy. Grabbed the pup, hehe, making him blue from the paint.

When I cuddle the pup, Mr. Calla Lilly asked me if I would do him the honour of marrying him. I was stunned!

Not saying yes, I said ” With my puppy ?”

To wich he laughed and said “NO silly, to Me”

    I obviously said yes!!!

LMAO! I have never thought of it that way! And that is the reason for the theme. Since he started it that way, I thought it wonderful to end it the same way, to continue our life like this! ;-p

My fiance (now husband) & I got engaged last year valentines day.

It happened at the ice lounge at the Waterfront. After going in & out a few times we went inside & one of the lady’s offered to take pics of us. So he goes over to the bar & they give him this box made of ice. He opened the box & took out the ring & proposed then. It was only then that I realised that everyone there had been in on it all the time.

It was so cool & romantic. Weird that it happened there, considering I’m such a warm blooded person.
