Centrepieces

Who knew centrepieces could be so complicated? Probably everyone except
me…it’s just, in the old days (you know, like the eighties!) everyone had
these big floral arrangements on their tables, the kind that were poofy to
match the wedding dress, and so huge you couldn’t see five people on the
other side of the table. Not me, I decided, I’m going to have something
simple and elegant and (ahem) cheaper.

Definitely don’t want this…

Before you start…

Dear Brides,

Allow me to introduce myself… I am Mrs Forget-me-not and I am going to be bogging with you! I am terribly excited. I am a professional wedding planner and truly excited being able to write about my experiences and ideas.

Since this is my first blog, I would like to start with the basics…

When you are starting to plan your dream wedding… PLEASE take a step back, breath and then sleep on it before making the most important choices. Before you book your venue, photographer, DJ and even your wedding planner… do this:

Close your eyes. Take deep breaths and imagine your wedding day.

Now, PLEASE forget about the budgets, the ever growing guest list, your parents… and IMAGINE your dream wedding day… ask yourself what would make you and your soon-to-be husband truly happy? What are your fantasies? Visualise your gown, flowers… hear the music….

Then: Discuss your wedding day with your significant other before you discuss it with family and friends; elaborate on your fantasies and visions, and write everything down…

NOW you are ready to plan…

Are you ready for your close-up?

Chin up, shoulders back, chest out, butt in - Snap and shoot!!!

One thing I learnt from my wedding was that you do a hell of a lot of posing.  My bridal shots took about two and a half to three hours and let me be the first to tell you, it was not as easy as it looks.

I had never been for a photo shoot before, so naturally, I assumed ‘ah what a piece of cake’ - we’ll it was’nt.  By the end of the day I was so sick of smiling and it was literally very tiring. So, models arent’ pre-madonna’s after all.

I wish I had read up some more on posing and also practiced and perfected a few poses.  Not that my pics didnt come out beautifully, but I think the whole process would have been much easier.

Fail to Plan and you Plan to Fail

Hello Friends

My name is Craig Whitehead and I am a wedding planner and event coordinator/ designer.  You will find our company STARLICIOUS LIFESTYLE EVENTS listed on a few sites and we specialise in planning and co ordinating your wedding from the very concept phase to completion.

I’d like to take this opportunity to discuss the planners’ duty and also to get some responses from you all, brides, grooms and alike to assist you with any questions or problems you may have. One thing I tell my team and my brides is “fail to plan and you plan to fail. ”

It’s like anything in life, if you want it, you should plan for it, set your intentions in line with your dreams, and work the dream. I cannot tell you how many times I have heard the woeful stories of things gone wrong, due to a lack of planning.

Our Mauritius Honeymoon

I was extremely spoilt for or honeymoon.  Hubby took me to Mauritius and we spent two magnificent weeks in the four-star LeMauricia hotel.  We only left for our honeymoon two weeks after the wedding, but Hubby tried to keep it a secret and managed to keep it he slipped up two days before.

Anyway, it was still very much a surprise to me, because I hadn’t researched the place online so I was still in suspense until we got there – it was the best holiday ever and I would definitely recommend the LeMauricia hotel.

Slippers as wedding favours

A great new trend these days is to give slippers to the gals as your wedding favours.  It’s a common thing at weddings to dance the night away and by the middle of the night the poor gal’s feet are aching.  I even changed into flat slip-ons after a couple of dances, and with us it was not easy for the girls to take off their shoes because our floor was filled with broken bits of plates (Greek party, what can I say)

I have found some really cool websites where you can make your own fabulous wedding slipper favors and for those of you that just dont have the time, or the energy, I ‘ve included some links on where you can purchase them instead.
