Ceremony Music

February 26, 2008 | Posted by Queen Bee

Im trying to workout my ceremony music and see which songs etc I want to have played at the ceremony.  We’re going to have an organist (although the Sax would have been my first choice but budget calls).  I cant say that Im a big fan of the traditional bridal march - I want something with a difference.

Any advice or different ideas?

Queen Bee - what did you go with in the end? When a friend of mine got married her husband insisted on choosing the song she entered the church to and wouldn’t tell anyone what it was. You can imagine her nerves, but it ended beautifully and there were tears all round when Elvis Costello’s ‘She’ started playing as she appeared in the doorway. Too beautiful for words.

Oh that’s what I’m thinking of for the father-daughter dance! Love that song. I don’t think I could have left that surprise up to Fh though - I’d be bawling my eyes out because I wasn’t expecting it. Meh, who am I kidding, I’ll bawl my eyes out anyway!

For the church, I really wanted Pachelbel’s Canon but I didnt like the piano version as much as I liked Vanessa Mae’s version on the Violin and then I wanted Dj Sammys Candlelight version of Heaven, but we couldnt find the sheet notes, so I just went with the traditional bridal march -(I think - I dont even remember hearing the music) hehehe.

We walked into the reception with the song by the Monkeys’ Im a beliver (The Shrek theme song) and then I got the DJ to play DJ Sammys Slow version of Heaven during the starters. But if you’re having a PA system at the church, you must listen to Vanessa Mae’s version fo Pachebel’s Canon its beautiful and is perfect for walking in
